CCTV and remote monitoring has been around for many years, and is used mainly to provide security and monitoring for property and premises.
With conventional systems the equipment required to install a CCTV package involves routing power and co-axial signal cable to cameras and recording equipment, having mains power available. If remote viewing and control of the cameras was required often a telephone line (PSTN/ISDN) had to be laid on to the site. With advances in technology, the use of renewable energy and ever expanding data transmission medias, we are now able to offer much more than just a CCTV package.
PowerPoint have developed, produced, and installed numerous remote monitoring multi camera surveillance CCTV systems, open circuit television (OCTV) via GPRS, radio or IP (Internet Protocol) transmission systems. You will be amazed at how many of these are used in unusual and remote locations. For instance we have recently supplied and installed fully functioning PTZ cameras operating via a VPN and using GPRS/3G transmission some 31 Kilometres off shore in the North Sea!
As many of our customers know, visual imaging or real time viewing of locations has become an essential part of their asset management and surveillance systems. At PowerPoint we believe in looking at the bigger picture, so when we develop a system we will provide a bespoke turnkey solution that meets all the operational needs and is flexible in its use.
We have provided customers with the systems to monitor offshore Wind Farm Meteorological Towers / Masts so they can monitor avian activity whilst also providing visual feedback of general site cleanliness. It is especially useful for viewing in real time the sea state prior to setting out to the off shore platform locations, as these images can be monitored from a PC anywhere in the world and can avoid costly wasted trips due to inclement weather conditions. The Environment Agency and British Waterways use CCTV systems provided by PowerPoint to monitor assets such as Flood Defence, Flood Storage Areas, Marinas and Stop Gates. These systems provide visual feedback of water levels, flows and gate positions and with the aid of ancillary equipment help identify blockages at an early stage. At some locations we have also incorporated the ability to remotely open and close the floodgates or stop gates. When this operation is required, the operator can ensure that it is safe to operate the equipment from the comfort of their control room, by the touch of a button.
